The World RX returns to the track of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on the last weekend of October to revolutionise the world of RallyCross by holding the first 100% electric event of the FIA World Championship.
Power and acceleration will once again take over the Circuit for one of the most exciting races on the calendar. The categories to be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will be RXE, RX2E and carcross E in the most thrilling format of Rally competition: the doubleheader, where World Championship qualifying finals will be held both on Saturday and Sunday.
The increasing participation of women in RallyCross events is remarkable, with riders such as Laia Sanz, Catie Munnings, Klara Andersson, Christine GX or Mandie August among those who have entered the events that have already taken place this season for the European RallyCross.
The essence of RallyCross is back
The paddock reopens its doors after last year’s edition was closed to visitors within the framework of the public health measures for the containment of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Attendees will be able to see the future of rally cars and get up close to the drivers.
As a novelty, the competition will be complemented by the E-Mobility Experience, an experiential fair where visitors will be able to discover and try out all the latest developments in electric vehicles: cars, motorbikes, e-bikes, scooters and more.
Josep Lluís Santamaria, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya General Manager: “We are very happy to confirm that we will have CatalunyaRX on our calendar for another season, with a 100% electric race in which we will be able to enjoy the RX and RX2 categories and with the first edition of the E-Mobility Experience as a novelty, which reaffirms our desire to be an international model of sustainability. We are proud to be able to celebrate, once again this year, four World Championship events of the highest classes such as Formula 1, MotoGP, WorldSBK and World RX, which place our facilities as a global benchmark in motorsport”.
Tickets available at popular prices
Tickets are now available at a special low price for these first months, maintaining the same prices as in previous years: one-day and two-day tickets, as well as respecting the categories introduced in 2021, junior and children.
Victor Casanovas, director of SevenMila Sports Agency, explains the new era of CatalunyaRX: “The CatalunyaRX has become one of the great motorsport competitions in the country. This 2022 will be its 8th edition and we are very happy to be the first 100% electric event to debut in this world championship. RallyCross is innovation and disruption in motorsport, as it combines sustainability with a unique and spectacular competition format. Fans will be able to enjoy a weekend with two competitions and an experiential space full of activities with the paddock of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya like never seen before”.
On 29 and 30 October, the WorldRX will kick off its new electric era at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, raising the bar for overtaking and speed in its competitions.
