Motocrom#51 accident official statement

This afternoon, during the qualifying practices of the AMV 24 Horas de Catalunya de Motociclismo, the teams Team GT Endurance (no. 30) and Motocrom#51 were involved in an accident.

The motorbike of team no. 30 had a mechanical failure on the straight before the entrance to the Stadium, at the exit of the RallyCross layout, and crashed, without the rider being on it, against the motorbike of team Motocrom#51, ridden by Aurelio Martínez. The rider was immediately taken care of by the medical team of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and afterwards taken to the Hospital in Granollers. Unfortunately, Aurelio Martínez (Alella, 1963) was unable to overcome the injuries, despite the huge efforts made both at the Circuit and in the hospital.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya deeply regrets the loss of the rider and wants to express the most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and team.

As a sign of mourning, tomorrow, Saturday, at 10.40 a.m. a minute of silence will be observed at the start line and the pre-race pit-walk will be cancelled.
