Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is getting ready to host one of the world’s most important sporting events once again: the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2025, which will be held from 30 May to 1 June. In this context, the commitment to sustainability is once again a fundamental pillar for the Catalan circuit, which aims to raise awareness and sensitise the public about respect for the environment.
To this end, the Barcelona circuit will have its usual “Sustainability Meeting Points”, located in the Crater Forest area and behind Grandstand G, open on Saturday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm and on Sunday from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Under the 3C management philosophy (Conscience, Commitment and Consistency), which integrates social, economic and environmental dimensions, the Circuit works to achieve responsible activity in its mission ‘Driving for a better future’, within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
As in previous editions, many actions will be carried out on the Barcelona track for an ISO 20121-certified F1 Grand Prix, including the following:
- Use of 100% certified energy from renewable sources to support the electricity supply.
- Energy self-sufficiency of up to 50% with photovoltaic solar panels.
- Rental of low-emission generators in the paddock.
- Offering km0 and organic food at the catering outlets.
- Availability of sun cream dispensers and shaded areas.
- Promotion of sustainable mobility with electric vehicle charging points within the facilities (14), and use of electric vehicles by suppliers and Circuit staff for internal mobility.
- Zero waste commitment: Reusable cups in bars and water fountains (in public areas and in the paddock). Use of the circular economy by reusing tyres and drums. Waste recovery and recycling. Donation of surplus food by the teams to the local social organisation El Xiprer.
- Improvement of biodiversity in the Educational Crater Forest through sustainable forest management. On Saturday 31 between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm in the Kids Zone, there will be a biodiversity workshop for all children who come along.
- Installation of two Purple Points in the public areas.
- Social involvement through activities such as an educational visit to a mechanics school, with instruction and advice from F1 professionals for the students.
Mobility inside and outside the Circuit
This year, electric vehicles from the Red Cross will facilitate the movement of people with reduced mobility within the venue, accompanied by volunteers. In addition, there will be a special public transport schedule to ensure quick, comfortable and sustainable travel to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, either by train (Rodalies de Catalunya) or by bus (Sagalés). The Circuit also offers a free bus service from Montmeló and Parets train stations.
Attendees will find various QR codes distributed throughout the public areas to access detailed information on sustainability. In the Main Grandstand, for example, information on energy self-sufficiency will be available, and details on food donations will be provided at Aramark’s catering points.
In this way, the Circuit encourages everyone involved in the event to contribute to the actions to ensure the sustainable management of the FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2025.
