width=&#8221;5\/6&#8243; offset=&#8221;vc_col-lg-9 vc_col-md-10 vc_col-sm-offset-0 vc_col-xs-offset-1 vc_col-xs-10&#8243;]<time class=\"date vpxs-0-m\" datetime=\"21-11-2017\">21 November 2017<\/time>[vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya<\/strong> <strong>Management Board has approved the changes<\/strong> of the racetrack requested by the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) in order to be able to <strong>homologate the track<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, the <strong>run-off area of the former Turn 12 used by MotoGP\u2122 will be broadened<\/strong> with the aim of <strong>improving the safety of the layout<\/strong>. To carry out this extension, two modules of Grandstand C will have to be removed, and the complete Grandstand H will be moved, in order to have more space available for the said run-off area, which will be completely filled with gravel. From the braking point, the area will be extended by 20 metres.<\/p>\n<p>With this change, the Gran Premi de Catalunya de MotoGP\u2122 will now be staged on a <strong>4,627 metres <\/strong>long layout, since with the new configuration of the layout for 2018, the race will now be using the Formula 1 variant at <strong>Turn<\/strong> <strong>CaixaBank (10)<\/strong> \u2013which was already used in 2016 and 2017\u2013\u00a0 and Turn 12 \u2013used until 2015\u2013, will <strong>now be Turn 13<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another safety improvement, which is an essential requirement for the track homologation, is the <strong>complete re-asphalting<\/strong> of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya track.<\/p>\n<p>The works and the re-asphalting will be carried out during <strong>January 2018<\/strong>, except for the dismantling of the grandstands, which will be done during the last weeks of December.<\/p>\n<p>The planned changes have also been agreed on with and accepted by the FIA (F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de l\u2019Automobile).<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][vc_column el_class=&#8221;side-col&#8221; offset=&#8221;vc_col-md-4 vc_col-xs-12&#8243;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8689,"parent":0,"template":"","categories":[36],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8694","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-circuit"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news\/8694","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/news"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8689"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8694"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8694"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.circuitcat.com\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8694"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
