The Catalan track continues to show a pioneering environmental involvement in the world of sport and circuits, after eight years of recognition.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, the Circuit became the first Formula 1 track to obtain the Excellence level accreditation of the FIA Sustainability Programme. This project aims to improve sustainability in motorsport worldwide and provides a framework for the environmental management of the different stakeholders and offers initiatives to advance in this field of action.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA has certified that the management of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has shown a long-term commitment to continuous improvement in sustainable actions, having received the first ISO 14001 certification in 2008. From 2021, it also has the ISO 20121:2013 certification for sustainable events for the F1 and MotoGP Grands Prix and the main international competitions it hosts, as well as the Biosphere label. In addition, the study &#8220;Racing towards a sustainable future. A review of the sustainability performance of international racing circuits&#8221; by the consultancy firm Enovation Consulting, places the Circuit in the top 2 of the most sustainable circuits in the world out of a total of 97.<\/p>\n<p>In its report, the FIA has highlighted that among the actions carried out, the &#8220;Circuit has promoted sustainable mobility, has developed a great communication strategy that uses different media and events and has managed to cover 33% of the annual energy demand of the circuit through the largest public self-consumption photovoltaic installation in Catalonia.
