Double dose of WorldSBK at the Circuit

Double dose of WorldSBK at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 2023

The Catalan track will be host twice to the protagonists of the FIM Superbike World Championship this year: during the Barcelona Test on 31 March and 1 April, as well as at the Catalunya WorldSBK Round from 5 to 7 May.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will once again host the Catalunya WorldSBK Round, the Catalan round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, which will be held from 5 to 7 May. After three previous editions held in September, the ‘Catalan Round’ moves its dates to the beginning of May. This change in the calendar will make the event the fourth round of the 2023 season, which kicks off in Australia this weekend.

The season may well be a continuation of the three-way title fight: Toprak Razgatlıoğlu (Yamaha), Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) and Álvaro Bautista (Ducati). The trio already starred in one of the most exciting seasons in the history of WorldSBK, where the Spanish rider finally managed to win. Other regular Superbike names will also be fighting for the podium, such as Scott Redding, Iker Lecuona, Alex Lowes, Tom Sykes and Xavi Vierge.

There will also be interesting news on track thanks to three top riders joining WorldSBK: Italian Danilo Petrucci (Ducati), a former MotoGP™ rider; Australian Remy Gardner (Yamaha), also from Grand Prix and Moto2™ World Champion in 2021; and Swiss Dominique Aegerter (Yamaha), who makes the jump to Superbike after two years of fierce domination in Supersport.

Tickets for the Catalunya WorldSBK Round will go on sale next Tuesday 28 February at www.circuitcat.com and www.catalunyaworldsbk.com. In 2022 the sporting event welcomed up to 29,898 attendees over the weekend.

Barcelona Test open to the public
